Hillcrest A+
Designated in 2009
|
The A+ Schools Program is a school-improvement initiative established by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1983, and in the fall of 2006, Hillcrest High School began the process of seeking A+ Designation. After two years of hard work, HHS earned its A+ Designation in January of 2009, and 63 members of the Hillcrest class of 2009 earned their A+ status which allows them to access the A+ financial grant of 2 years of tuition at any community college or technical school in the state of Missouri.
Developing partnerships with local business and community leaders is an integral part of the A+ Schools Program, and Hillcrest has a fantastic A+ Board who are very supportive of the Hillcrest community. Kraft, Tuthill, Evangel University, and Cox College of Health Sciences, the HHS A+ Enhanced Partners, were instrumental in the implementation of the 2 major Hillcrest A+ student activities: Freshmen Orientation and the annual HHS A+ Career Fair.
- Freshmen and sophomores who are interested in participating in the Hillcrest A+ Schools Program must sign the A+ Agreement and Citizenship forms which are located in the A+ Computer Lab, room 116.
- A+ junior and seniors must complete their tutoring hours prior to graduation by taking the A+ Tutoring class to earn their final A+ status.
- All A+ students must work on maintaining their grade point averages, attendance percentage, and good citizenship record each year prior to graduation.
